The Building’s History

One of the original buildings in the City of Morton is still standing tall at 230 North Main Street. This building has been around since it was first built in August of 1871. Though the building owner for the first few years is unknown, it changed hands between railroad companies for many years. At the time, the structure was known as the Edener building and was home to a bakery that would show silent movies on the weekends.

In November of 1968, the American Legion Post 344 took the building over. Later in 1976, the Morton Senior Center was able to use the space for their services. Then in 1985, the Morton Senior Center organization bought the structure and is still going strong in the building.
