City of Morton Economic Development Authority (EDA)

Grow your business in Morton, Minnesota! The City of Morton Economic Development Authority strives to facilitate business development and business continuity in the Morton area. Loans are available to businesses and organizations wishing to move to or expand in Morton.

The EDA wishes to encourage the expansion of the local tax base and the enhancement of employment opportunities in the City. Morton Chamber of Commerce and the City of Morton EDA are working with several property owners on the sale/rent of their buildings. Contact the City for more information.

The City of Morton EDA Board plays an instrumental role in the economic development and housing projects for the town. The EDA board meets as necessary. If you have a request, please contact the City of Morton.

EDA Applications

Interested applicants can speak with Pam Ring at the City Office to receive the paperwork. Applications will be reviewed by the board. Funds to be loaned are dependent on availability and credit review. Assistance will be provided for completion of additional applications as necessary and needed.

Limitations to the City of Morton EDA Loans

Loan applications will only be accepted for businesses within the City of Morton. Applicants must have a business plan to present along with the loan application. If the loan is approved at the following EDA Board meeting, the business granted the loan would receive one-third of the amount from the city. Businesses would have to have one-third of their own money or assets into the business to show the invested interest in a thriving operation.

Renville County EDA Loans

There are additional resources available through the Renville County Housing and Redevelopment Authority and the Economic Development Authority (HRA/EDA).

Housing

These loans are similar to, however, are another option to the EDA loans available to residents. Homeowners, if they fall under a certain income bracket, can apply to receive up to $10,000 in home improvement loans with an up to a 4% interest rate that goes for 10 years. This application process is ongoing. Those interested are welcome to visit the city offices for questions or apply below. Please remember that a loan stipulation is that a licensed contractor needs to be contacted as the individual to do it.
