Parking Ordinances

SECTION 1. Vehicle Parking Regulations. The purpose of these regulations is to ensure that the streets of Morton can be properly and efficiently maintained.

SECTION 2. Definitions:
A. Public Street: Any street, road or thoroughfare within the city limits of Morton, MN.
B. Vehicle: All recreational and motor vehicles, motorcycles, trucks and trailers as defined by M.S.168.002.
C. Plowable Snow Event: Any event that, at the discretion of the City Clerk/Administrator, or designee, necessitates the plowing of streets (i.e. snowfall, drifting, slush accumulation, etc.).
D. Declared Parking Restriction/Prohibition: Any event that, at the discretion of the City Administrator, or designee, vehicle parking is restricted or prohibited (i.e. street sweeping, seal coating, parades, etc.) as declared or indicated.

SECTION 2. Violations.
A. No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street during a plowable snow event until after the street has been completely plowed from curb to curb or edge to edge, or
B. No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street during a declared parking restriction/prohibition event until stated work or event has concluded.

SECTION 3. Penalties. Any person violating any provision of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a parking citation and/or towing of the vehicle. All towing costs shall be the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle.

SECTION 4. Repeal. Ordinance 71.04 and any other Ordinance, or section of any Ordinance, inconsistent with this Ordinance, is hereby repealed.

SECTION 5. Effective Date. This Ordinance becomes effective upon its passage and publication according to law.
