Looking for a fun way to kick off Easter weekend with your young children? Come out to the Morton Shelter the Saturday before Easter for an egg hunt sponsored by the Morton Fire Department.Â
2024 Easter Egg Hunt Details
On Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 10:00AM the Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Morton Shelter down on 3rd Street and Park Drive. The Morton Fire Department will have Easter eggs scattered throughout the lawn ready for children to run and pick up as many eggs as they can. Once all the eggs have been collected, everyone will gather back under the shelter for announcements from the fire department. Children will trade in their empty (yes we said, empty!) eggs for a goodie bag from a City of Morton Firefighter.
Although most eggs are empty, the firefighters enjoy making it entertaining for the parents and adults volunteering at the egg hunt. Rumor has it in the past there were special eggs that had cash prizes in them in years past! Are they doing that again? Who knows! You’ll have to come out and see for yourself.
History of the Morton Easter Egg Hunt
Originally the City of Morton Easter Egg Hunt started out as a Morton Lions and Lioness organization planned and executed event that included a breakfast at the Catholic Church. We are unsure of when it first originated. Maybe the town historians could shed some light on this for us curious ones? Nonetheless, once the Morton Lions organizations sunsetted, the Morton Fire Department graciously took over the Easter Egg Hunt for our community youth and families.
See You and Your Littles There!
The Morton Fire Department volunteers look forward to seeing your little ones at this year’s Easter Egg Hunt! It goes without saying, but remember that it is spring in Minnesota and the event happens outside. Last year, this meant that children and parents were skidding on an ice covered snowy field to recover eggs. This year’s weather has been different but can easily change. Make sure to dress appropriately and be there promptly at 10:00 am on March 30, 2024. We’d hate for you to trek your children down to the hunt for all the eggs to already be picked up!
