Morton City Park

Morton, MN City Park

With a community of youth and many events by local organizations, the City of Morton is proud to have a city park for many to enjoy. The park features a large hill, a shelter, a small creek running through it and more.

History of the City Park

In the winter of 1939 into the spring of 1940, Robert B. Henton worked with the City to transfer the whole park area to the City of Morton. The park was donated with the agreement so long as the property is maintained and used by the City for a public playground, and for other public use. Over the years the park has seen football games many years ago, lots of baseball games, and a multitude of Independence Day celebrations.

Silent Heroes in City Park Existence

The City of Morton has many silent heroes that make a big impact on our community. With the help of the once local Lions Club, a monetary donation allowed the city to add the public restroom and shelter at the city park. Additional work and pieces have been done in the park thanks to the Morton Fire Department, Morton Area Community Foundation, and the City of Morton for all doing their part.

Special City Park Amenities

Thanks to the silent heroes in Morton, the city park is more than just a playground available to the youth. Basketball courts, a baseball field, an ice skating rink and a disc golf course (available in early summer 2024) are all part of the city park in the city of Morton.

Shelter Usage in the City Park

The shelter is available to be used for your next event. Unlike other towns that require a fee for the shelter usage or registering your event for space usage, this is not a requirement of the City of Morton shelter at the city park. This being said, know that if you plan to utilize the shelter for your event the shelter is available on a first come, first served basis only. When you utilize the shelter or even the park as a whole, we ask that you take pride in these amenities and clean up after yourselves. Our city staff and community thank you in advance for doing your part!
